Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a general term for a family of transmission technologies that deliver voice communications over IP networks such as the Internet or a company computer network. VoIP can reduce communication and infrastructure costs. Examples include:
While regular telephone calls are billed by the minute or second, VoIP calls are billed per megabyte (MB). In other words, VoIP calls are billed per amount of information (data) sent over the Internet and not according to the time connected to the telephone network. In practice the amount charged for the data transferred in a given period is far less than that charged for the amount of time connected on a regular telephone line.
A SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) connection is a service offered by many ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Providers) that connects a company's PBX (phone system) to the existing public telephone system network (PSTN) via Internet using the SIP VoIP standard. SIP Trunks are cheaper than analog circuits while maintaining the same service quality that businesses expect. And long distance charges associated with SIP Trunks are much cheaper.
A T1 line refers to a specific type of copper or fiber optic telephone line that can carry more data than traditional telephone lines. Twisted copper telephone lines have been the standard for decades, transmitting voice and data via analog signals. Today that standard is slowly being upgraded to fiber optic lines, (lines made of bundled glass fibers), but most T1 lines are still made of twisted copper. The T1 line creates a "pipe" capable of carrying larger amounts of information.
The Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is a standardized telecommunications service level for carrying multiple voice and data transmissions between a network and a user. PRI is the standard for providing telecommunication services to offices. It is based on the T-carrier (T1) line, and consists of 24 channels.
We offer phone network cabling for new offices, office upgrades, and office expansions.
